Treatment for Tinea?

I have had this condition for 9 - 10 months. I have tried an antifungal cream called Lamisil but did not seem to work that effectively. (prescribed by a doctor). Now I am using a cream with clotrimazole, but its efficacy is very questionable. Which antifungal cream would you recommend me to use? The lesion does not seem to go away - it has been getting better very slowly, though. My condition was diagnosed as Tinea Corporis, not Tinea Vesicolor. If possible, I would like to avoid oral medications and am looking for better topical cream than Lamisil etc. What would you recommend? thank you in advance.

Answer
Treatment of Tinea Versicolor with Oral Antifungals Oral antifungal medications can cause side effects such as nausea or reversible liver damage, but these side effects are not common with the short courses of therapy used for tinea versicolor. Oral griseofulvin and oral terbinafine are not effective treatments for tinea versicolor. The following oral treatment regimens have been shown to produce a greater than 70% clinical response rate: Itraconazole 200mg every other day for 7 days Ketoconazole 400mg single dose Fluconazole 400mg single dose Fluconazole 150mg or 300mg weekly for 4 weeks Treatment of Tinea Versicolor with Dandruff Shampoos Until recently, dandruff shampoos were the mainstay of treatment for tinea versicolor. They are less effective than the antifungal medications and can cause skin irritation, but they are available over the counter and are less expensive. The following regimens have been shown to be effective: Sulfur-salicyclic acid shampoo applied nightly as a lotion for 1 week Zinc-pyrithione shampoo regimen (applied daily as a lotion and left on for 5 minutes before rinsing) for 2 weeks Selenium sulfide 2.5% lotion regimen (applied daily as a lotion and left on for 10 minutes before rinsing) for 1 week

Will this ringworm ever go away??

This spot started on my leg over a year ago. I had no clue that it was a ringworm untill I saw the doctor for something else and asked her about it. She said it was a ringworm and to use antifungal cream. I have been using Lamisil faithfully twice a day for 2 weeks now and it doesnt look any different. I dont know what to do. I have read many home remedies but most of them also said that Lamisil works great. Could it be that it will take a very long time to get rid of it since I have had it for so long, or does someone have any better ideas to get rid of it?? It started off small but its now at least the size of a silver dollar, and after looking at many photos of them Im pretty darn sure thats whaat it is. Please help! Thank you.
